Driver License / Identification Card

Getting a Drivers' License or Identification Card is a function of the Nebraska State Examiner's Office.  Citizens must first go through their offices to apply for any type of Driver License or Identification Card.  Their offices are located with the Douglas County Treasurer's Office: except for our Downtown location. 

After the State has approved the application, the citizen may proceed to any of the Douglas County Treasurer's Offices for payment.

If the citizen has a valid Nebraska Driver's License or Identification Card and has moved within the State, the citizen will need to go to the Douglas County Treasurer's Office.  According to State law, the citizen needs to change the address on their license or identification card within sixty (60) days.  The following requirements are needed to change an address on a Nebraska Driver's License or Identification Card:

Surrender the current license or identification card
  •  
Fill out an application at the Douglas County Treasurer's Office
  •  
Have a picture taken at the Douglas County Treasurer's Office
  •  
Remit a fee of $11.25

To replace a lost Driver's License or Identification Card, citizens need to visit the Douglas County Treasurer's Office. The following requirements are needed to replace a card:

  •  
Show one piece of acceptable proof of identification (see the state website for acceptable proof of identification http://www.dmv.state.ne.us)
  •  
Have a picture taken at the Douglas County Treasurer's Office
  •  
Remit a fee of $11.25

To change a name on a Driver's License or Identification Card the following must be submitted:

Surrender the current license or identification card
  •  
Certified legal document verifying the name change
  •  
Have a picture taken at the Douglas County Treasurer's Office
  •  
Remit a fee of $11.25
