Tax Sale Statistics

The annual Douglas County Treasurer’s Public Tax Lien Sale was held on Monday, March 3, 2008 in the Legislative Chambers of the City/County Civic Center, 1819 Farnam Street, Omaha, NE. Notice of the sale was published for three (3) consecutive weeks including February 7th, 14th and 21st, 2008 in the Daily Record.  We offered 6,914 tax liens totaling $7,935,829 in back taxes and special assessments.  The sale ended at 8:00 PM Monday, March 3, 2008 after all tax liens had been offered.

            5,473 tax certificates were sold yielding:
            $6,323,448.40 collected in back taxes
            $643,024.42 in penalty interest collected
            $26,415.00 assessed advertising fees collected
            $54,730.00 in fees for certificates
            for a grand total for the sale of $7,047,617.82

2008 Interest Income:

Three hundred seventy-three (373) registered investors earned interest income on their investments for the previous three (3) years (2008, 2007 and 2006).  The median interest income (meaning half made more and half made less) for the three (3) year period was $1,332.54.
