Tax Sale Statistics

The annual Douglas County Treasurer’s Public Tax Lien Sale was held on Monday, March 5, 2007 in the Legislative Chambers of the City/County Civic Center, 1819 Farnam Street, Omaha, NE. Notice of the sale was published for three (3) consecutive weeks including February 1st, 8th and 15th, 2007 in the Daily Record.  We offered 6,157 tax liens totaling $6,499,466 in back taxes and special assessments.  The sale ended at 8:00 PM Monday, March 5, 2007 after all tax liens had been offered.

            4,711 tax certificates were sold yielding:
            $5,360,742.46 collected in back taxes
            $555,784.58 in penalty interest collected
            $23,000.00 assessed advertising fees collected
            $47,110.00 in fees for certificates
            for a grand total for the sale of $5,986,637.04

2007 Interest Income:

Three hundred thirteen (313) registered investors earned interest income on their investments for the previous three (3) years (2007, 2006 and 2005).  The median interest income (meaning half made more and half made less) for the three (3) year period was $954.41.
